I purchased a 2011 Toyota Camry (my 4th one)from Arlington Toyota on the above date after 3 days of negotiations and trading in my leased Camry. I was told on the first day to leave a deposit of 500.00 to drive the car home for my husband to see. In the meantime, they would "work figures" to get closer to my comfortable payment and the car would be "wired" so that I would not miss out on 0% financing. I returned on the 2nd day and was told by my salesman and the finance manager that they could meet my payment and we completed the paperwork. I provided a second check to complete m y down payment. I was told that I would be given a check for the remaining months of my lease and we transferred the tag, called my insurance agent and switched coverage to the new car and surrendered my keys to the car. I had no complaints about my salesman at that time. On the 3rd day, I was contacted by my salesman who was very panicked. He asked me to call in for a pay-off on my 2007 car. I asked why and he said "there are some problems with the figures. He said that they could offer me 72 months at a much higher payment, then rescinded the offer. He asked me to talk with my husband and see what we could do. He then recommended that I return the car. I was instructed by an attorney that day not to return the car and to have the contract looked at. They found no mistakes in the contract. The 4th day I received another call asking me to come to the dealership to get a rear bumper guard that I'd asked about. I declined. I received several calls from the finance office to call them, I referred them to the attorney I am using now. I filed a complaint regarding dealer practices with DMV and they investigated this allegation to find 4 violations against the dealership. I was unable to register my car for 6-7 weeks,as the paperwork did not get submitted on time. They also indicated that they had not sent the check for the remaining months and have not as of this date. I received a letter stating that my old car was sold at a private sale within just a few weeks of this happening. I have also received a bill for storage for the old car. I turned over all keys to them on 4-7-10 and did not ask them to store a car for me. In fact, I was told that it should sell quickly because it was in excellent condition. I have been receiving calls from a company connected to Toyota regarding a balance of over 5,000.00. I defer these calls to my attorney as well. I have asked for the following to occur: the balance of any debt that I legally am responsible for be negotiated or deleted due to the lack of or incorrect information that they provided regarding their deal with me. I have owned 4 Toyotas now, this experience made me ill to know that returning customers would be treated this way. I was videotaped the day of purchase and was never asked for additional money. I wrote two separate checks, one for 500, the deposit and one for 2000.00. Both were returned to me in the finance office. I clearly read that I could not cancel my deal with Arlington and was appalled that a dealership could call and find "mistakes" after dealing directly with me two full days and not finding their "alleged errors". I have worked hard to have a decent credit rating and DO NOT want this reflected on my report. I am making payments on my new one and despite what I have been through, I still love my car, and stuck with Toyota after many customers left. I have lost 1 week from work and have paid an attorney to receive calls on this. I would like to be reimbursed for that time and expense. I believe in Toyota products, but believe that on April 7, 2010 the dealership was so eager to make another sale that they threw an offer to me that wasn't checked out. As an aside, the 0 offer that was supposed to end on the day I originally looked and test drove, was extended for several weeks, although my dealership did not tell me. The only pressure I felt was thinking that I had to put something down on day one or lose the interest rate. I would buy another Toyota in 5 years, I would not buy from Arlington because of the way they mishandled me. Honest quotes, honest trade in would have allowed me to enjoy what should have been a pleasant experience. I hope that this letter will serve as a training tool to that dealer to be up front and do what every other Toyota dealer has done for me in the past. I would like an apology and a letter to the credit bureau if they published anything that would be detrimental to my credit. Thank you for your time and the opportunity to tell my story.
