I filled out a form on Truecar.com in search of a Prius. Bernardi was a dealer who 'had' what I was looking for. I never got any information from that dealer at all and when - asked them what about the car that TrueCar sent information about. THey said they don't have that. We have lots of other cars. They suck at the internet and use the old bait and switch. Stay far away from this shady dealer with tons of advertising. They are just a marketing slogan. I may complain to Toyota even though I don't think they would give a darn.

Good Afternoon Mr. Carney, I just wanted to take a moment regarding my most recent experience with your company. I leased a new Toyota 4 Runner limited with your company in 2005, and when that lease was up, another New 4 Runner in 2008. The 2005 4 Runner I had serviced at your dealership for every oil change, as well as the prescribed maintenance check ups. I used to be the General Manager at Skipjack's in Natick. As a matter of fact, many of your business managers used to dine at my establishment weekly, and I do believe that you dined with us twice as best I can recall. (I met you through Mike McCorkal: I introduced myself to you and told you my father owned the Gun Room In Shrewsbury and the Village Gun Shop in Northborough and resides in Southborough.) I have since stopped servicing my vehicles at your Framingham dealership ONLY because I am now the General Manager of the newest Skipjack's located in Foxboro at Gillette Stadium, and have since bought a home in this area, which renders your d ealers service no longer convenient for regular maintenance. I even earned a "spiff" check from your company when I had one of my employees (Andrea Cermakova) buy a New Toyota from your dealership during my tenure in Natick. With my 2008 4 Runner lease up in at the end of February, I decided to buy the lease out, with aspirations of paying it off in three years and then using it as a down payment on another new one from your dealership. I called Toyota, and they told me to go through your dealership for all financing and paperwork. I was instructed to speak Mr. John Matten, who referred me to speak with Al Salas. Al has been gracious, and he scheduled a set time for me to show up at the dealership and get all the necessary paperwork done. I agreed on the four year payment plan with Eastern Savings bank, completed all the necessary paperwork, and was told that in approximately one week, I would receive a call to return to the dealership to obtain a new inspection sticker and have new plates attached, all part of the $299.00 fees that I reluctantly agreed to pay. (I had thought I was a valuable patron of yours enough so as not to be charged this particular fee---and I even made note of that to Mr. Salas). I did all this on Tuesday, January 25th. Today, January 28th I received a call from Al Salas Stating he had good news and bad news for me, and he asked which I would like first. Really. I've already signed all legally binding paperwork, My credit was worthy of Toyota sending me a VIP status because although it is only my second new 4 Runner from you, before that I leased a new 4 Runner from Westborough Toyota, making it three new 4 Runners in 9 years. I have better than average credit. Bad news....really. Mr. Salas informed me that the lender requires a 160 or 180 point inspection, at the cost of $300.00 to me. He followed that up with the good news. He said because he knew I would not be pleased with hearing this, he went ahead and got me a lower rate with personal coupons of his from Western Union Bank and even with the $300.00 cost, he would save me over $700.00 over the life of the loan. The payment for 48 months was now $8.00 less. I corrected Mr. Salas stating that $8.00 times 48 months was $384.00, not $700.00. He said that I was correct, but that was what he was willing to do this for me. Really. That translates to me as an $84.00 savings if I have to pay the $300.00. In addition to this, now he requests I spend an entire morning at your dealership for the inspection the bank requires. Mr. Salas said it would be 2 to 3 hours. I explained that it's all unacceptable. I personally wouldn't spend three hours for an $84.00 savings over a 4 year period for anything. I told Mr. Salas to have the $300.00 fee waived, and still provide the lower rate, and that would be acceptable. He said that he proposed that to his General Manager, and that was something they were not willing to do as it would not benefit them to waive the $300.00 fee, and that it was necessary. Mr. Salas said that his GM did authorize for me to obtain a company loner-vehicle so that I do not have to wait at the dealership for the entire morning; and that is something not done either---as again, it does not benefit the dealership. I explained to Mr. Salas in the beginning of all this that I used to be a Fin ance manager at an auto dealership in Worcester in my younger days, and that I wanted this transaction done quickly and efficiently, or I would simply lease a new Toyota 4 Runner from Any Toyota dealership locally and I could get the same monthly payment for a brand new vehicle. I explained that had I made that mistake when I was a Business manager, I would have asked for the fee to be waived to keep the guest happy. The Bank required Inspection that is now to cost me $300.00 is something Mr. Salas should have known and explained at the time the paperwork was completed. In addition, the required Inspection (I assume) will be done at the dealership, and I can only assume again, that the mechanics billing out their time for the prescribed hours, get paid for. Maybe Mr. Salas should pay the three hundred dollars so that your mechanics get paid, if as Mr. Salas stated, it was necessary. In closing, I am not only bothered by the additional $300.00 fee, but the time I must take is not only 2 to 3 hours at your dealership, but the hour and a half round trip from and to home, making it an additional possible 5 hours. I know you pride yourself on Bernardi for now, Bernardi for life. I was working that philosophy and happy to do so, up until all of this. I look forward to hearing from you. I currently have an appointment with Mr. Salas this coming Thursday. However, maybe I should simply return th e lease and purchase a New 4 Runner elsewhere.
